$400 has come in so far. $2600 to go. Thank you to our farrier and her wife for taking this drive to deliver the boys tonight. They should be at the rescue by midnight. Let their healing begin. Now to finish raising the funds to get them healthy again.
I Couldn’t Walk Away, it’s never ending.
I looked into his eyes, and I’ll never forget what I saw — exhaustion, confusion, and a sadness that went straight through me. He’s just a shell of what he once was… every rib showing, hips sharp, his head hanging low as if he’s already given up.
This old mule has worked his whole life. Year after year of pulling, hauling, and doing everything asked of him — until his body simply couldn’t do it anymore. And when he couldn’t keep up, they dropped him at an auction, too thin and too tired to even lift his head.
Standing beside him was another old work horse, just as broken and just as lost. The two of them pressed close, leaning on each other for comfort. You could see it — they’ve both known nothing but work and wear, and now they’ve been thrown away like they don’t matter.
When I saw them, I knew they were coming home with us to Rocky’s Horse Rescue and Rehabilitation Inc. They may be worn out, but they still matter. They still deserve to feel safe, to be cared for, and to finally rest.
We need to raise $3,000 to get them the care they need — vet work, feed, dental care, farrier, and time to heal. They’re both depressed, weak, and need gentle, steady care to find their spark again.
Every dollar helps us show them that not all people turn away when life gets hard.
That there’s still kindness left in this world.
